The Coaches Site

The Coaches Site will be hosting a Hockey Coaches Conference at the Delta Hotel and Conference Centre in Burnaby, BC. The goal of the conference is to share the experience and insight of professional coaches and experts in human performance with coaches at the grassroots levels. The two-day event will cover various topics including tactical strategies, individual skill development and off-ice conditioning. It will also feature a charity reception for H.E.R.O.S (Hockey Education Reaching Out Society).

The Coaches Site is pleased to announce its line up of keynote speakers. Ryan Huska (Kelowna Rockets), Mike Johnston (Portland Winterhawks) and Don Hay (Vancouver Giants) are all currently WHL head coaches. Mark Holick was named the WHL’s Coach of the Year in 2010 with the Kootenay Ice before joining the Anaheim Ducks as head coach of their AHL affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch. Kevin Constantine has NHL head coaching experience (San Jose, New Jersey and Pittsburgh) and led the Everett Silvertips to the WHL final as an expansion team. Ryan Walter recently led Canada’s National Women’s team at the Women’s World Hockey Championship; the former Stanley Cup Champion was previously an assistant coach with the Vancouver Canucks. As Video Manager for Hockey Canada, Ben Cooper has assisted National Team staffs that have won Gold at the World Junior Championships, U-18 World Championships and at the 2010 Olympics in his hometown of Vancouver. Finally, Dr. Saul Miller brings 25 years experience as one of North America’s leading sports performance specialists. He has consulted with athletes and organizations in the NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB and PGA.

“We are extremely excited to be able to coordinate an event that brings together talent of this calibre to strengthen the capabilities of the coaching community in Canada,” says Aaron Wilbur, managing director of The Coaches Site. “The potential for amateur coaches to learn from such distinguished professionals will ultimately have a positive impact on young players at all levels.”

The Coaches Site is also excited to announce that representatives from Global Sport Scouting Inc. will be on hand to share the opportunities their showcases provide to amateur players. Global is in it’s 20th year of operation and hosts showcases in Burnaby, British Colombia, Las Vegas, Nevada and this past year expanded to Chicago, Illinois.
